RE:  2008 Gottscheer Treffen in Cleveland

Liebe Landsleute,

With 2008 already in the month of March, time is really going fast;  at this time we would like to bring you up to date with the Cleveland  Treffen preparations.

The preparations are well underway.  On behalf of the E.O.U.V. Cleveland, we would like to extend an invitation to all the Gottscheer Vereins, choirs, and dance groups everywhere to join us for the 46th  North American Treffen on August 30 and 31,  and September 1, 2008.  We urge all groups, especially the young, to attend the Treffen; since the youth is an important segment for the future of our "Gottscheertum".

We have composed a package for $60.00 for adults, which includes the Saturday dinner and admission, Sunday banquet and admission.   For children under the age of  7, the admissions  and dinners are free, from age 7 through 18, the charge for Saturdays admission with dinner, and Sundays admission with dinner, the package is $30.00.   We are asking all those who are arriving on Friday, August 29th, to please let us know sooner than the deadline, to make sure that we have enough hotel rooms reserved.  We also have a dinner planned for Friday, which will be cooked by none other than our club men; the package does not include the Friday dinner, which will only be $12.00 per person.  This way the ladies have an extra day of rest, so that they are all ready for Saturday and Sunday.

The hotel costs have also been negotiated and screened at length.  We are certain that you will be happy by staying at the Embassy Hotel at I-271 and Chagrin Blvd., only 15 minutes from our club.  The cost per night for up to 2 adults per room is $95.00 plus 15.25% tax; which includes a full breakfast to order.  Children under 18 are free.  An additional adult in the room is $20.00 extra plus the 15.25% tax.  A copy of the rooming list is enclosed for your convenience.

The Embassy Hotel is located at 3775 Park East Drive, Beachwood, Ohio 44122

(Phone:  216-765-8066, FAX:  216-591-1401).

It would be greatly appreciated if you would make your room reservations directly with the Embassy Suites; be sure to mention that you are with the EOUV group.  Information for the Embassy is enclosed.  Please mail the list of names and the package amount of

$60.00 per person for adults and $30.00 for the children and youth from age 7 through 18, to the attention of Maria Sieder (address is listed below).  Make the check payable to the E.O.U.V.   Those of you who have been involved in such tasks know the importance of prompt action.  There will be more information at a later date.  It would be helpful if you would convey this information to all of your groups, this way there will only be one person making reservations with the hotel, and it would avoid confusion.  Also check our Web site for information. Dear Elfriede,

Hope you are having a good year so far.  We are in the planning stages of the Gottscheer Treffen and are sending you the invitation.  If you would please pass this information on to all of your groups in New York, since you are the one organizing the buses.  It will eliminate all confusion with reservations for the hotel and for your buses.

Elfriede, if you would make copies of the invitation for your groups, it would be appreciated.  Thanking you in advance for your help in this matter; we remain sincerely yours,

Your friends from the Gottscheer Club in Cleveland.
